Introduction:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CDesc creates a neatly formatted descriptive list of specified files.
The resulting list is similar to file lists found on computer bulletin
boards, particularly those using PCBoard software.
Usage and examples:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CDesc <files_to_query> <text_file_output>
CDesc c:\download\*.* files.bbs
CDesc a:\*.zip zipfiles
CDesc c:\pcb\upl\*.* dir00
Notes:
~~~~~~
You must have the proper unarchivers for the archives you encounter!
DOS wildcards may be used when specifying the files to query.
Put "CDESC.CFG" in the same directory as "CDESC.EXE", if you wish to use it.
Read "CDESC.CFG" to modify the command lines of the unarchiving programs.
Archives:
~~~~~~~~~
For archive files, CDesc extracts the FILE_ID.DIZ or DESC.SDI, if available.
Archive types that CDesc should recognize:
ARC, ARJ, HA, HPACK, HYPER, LHA, PAH, PAK, RAR, SQZ, UC2, ZIP, ZOO
Images:
~~~~~~~
For image files, CDesc extracts the image type, size, and colors.
Image types that CDesc should recognize:
wBMP, GIF87a, GIF89a, JPEG, PCX, PiNG
CDESC does not recognize some compressed JPEG files, nor certain types of
Windows (tm) bitmap files. CDESC does not recognize bitmap files of other
types, such as OS/2.
Other files:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
For unrecognized files, or archives with no DIZ type files, CDesc
inserts "No description available." in the file list.
Revision History:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.00, 9-Aug-1995 First public release.
